The youth in agriculture village has the objective to create awareness amongst the youth of the need to improve agricultural activities in order to ensure food security and economic stability of the country.
This will be achieved through a two phased approach:
- Youth in agriculture day – (on the first day of the event) Saturday,
July 30, 2011
- Youth in agriculture village exhibit throughout the duration of the event to feature demonstrations and career- type presentations.
During the Youth in agriculture day (organized by the Jamaica 4-H Clubs) there will be a series of competitions arranged for the youths through presentations and other form of interactive participation to include: agriculture quiz competition, food technology competition and public speaking competition.
The Caribbean 4-h food festival will be tied into the youth in agriculture activities and will also participate in the competitive events on July 30. They are also expected to participate in the food festival component of the Denbigh show, displaying special dishes from their respective islands.
