Manchester’s representative, Samantha McLean, copped the National Farm Queen Competition at the annual Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show in Clarendon on Saturday night.
McLean is a 23-year-old agriculturist.
The first runner-up was Demscia Ricketts of St Elizabeth, and third place went to St Mary’s Shanigue Hunter.
The contest was the closing event of day one of the Denbigh Show.
It involved intricate farming knowledge and awareness among the contestants, with close competition all the way.
The National Farm Queen will be a representative of the agricultural sector for a year, and is particularly mandated to connect heavily with young persons in the sector as part of continued efforts to transform the overall image of agriculture locally into a more business-like, youthful and family-focused area of national life.
